Day 85: Closing a Busy Week
Taking My Time
My body needed to rest after the previous 3 days. I am absolutely when I don’t get a full night’s rest, so my body was ecstatic to sleep in a bit yesterday. I got into the office at around 9:45AM or so. A number of visiting colleagues from other hubs are also preparing to return in the coming days, so it was a good opportunity to see each other off and to get contact info to keep in touch. I’ve had the chance to meet some exceptionally intelligent, hard-working, and interesting people over the last 3 months.
The MTC
I spent my lunch catching up with a colleague at the MTC. I’m honestly going to miss eating at the campus cafeterias. I honestly feel a strong sense of belonging to the broader company that I think can be missed when you’re at a satellite location. Mercedes-Benz is a massive corporation that has lasted the tests of time over the last 130+ years. It’s pretty incredible to walk around here.
BBQ
After wrapping up lunch and a few phone calls at a nearby campus cafe, I jumped into the car to head over to Herrenberg, which is about 20 minutes away from Sindelfingen. Another sleepy little German city, Herrenberg is cozily tucked into a valley.

Tonight was a BBQ held by a team with whom I work very closely. It was great to see folks outside of the office and to hang out before heading back. The weather was beautiful, the food was delicious, and company and conversation was amazing as always. I got my but kicked playing Mario Kart, and I even got to feed some German Giants. Thank you, Heiko, for a great evening! ❤️
