Day 57: Feeling Back to Normal
Work from Home
I hope this is the last of my posts about my physical status, because I’m ready to go adventuring this weekend. It’s another 3-day weekend, due to a holiday on Monday. In the US, it’s Memorial Day. In Germany, it’s Whit Monday (also known as Pentecost Monday).
I chose to work from home for the day to not risk spreading anything around. Thankfully, my voice came back and I felt like I had energy for the first time in a while. I’m not 100%, but I’ll take what I can get. It’s time to go adventuring this weekend. First, I need to do a deep clean of the Airbnb, which is a Saturday task. But let’s get to that tomorrow.
Renewing the Rental Contract
Of course, I made a mistake with my rental contract. I got an email telling me that I needed to return the car. After my meetings, I drove to the airport to drop off the car and to pick up a new car. I completely forgot that I was supposed to ignore these emails entirely and only pay attention to emails that come from specific Stuttgart Airport employees about rental contract updates.
When I walked up to the counter to get keys to a new car, they told me that I could just pick up my original car after they cleaned it. I told them it didn’t need to be cleaned, so I walked back just as they finishing washing the outside of the car. It definitely needed a hose down, so I was happy they did that. I threw my things back in, and headed back to Marienplatz. It was a nice ride to the airport.
Dinner
When I got back, I didn’t realize how hungry I was. I surveyed my fridge and didn’t find anything appealing. Actually, I might need to clear some things out soon. I wanted to have something different tonight, something I haven’t had yet.
I opted to have Pho, which really hit the spot. I think I’ve been missing Asian cuisines a lot while living in Stuttgart. It’s a markedly different experience eating foods from Asian cuisines in California vs. in Europe in my opinion. There’s not as much variety here, and pretty limited options. Certain places are delicious, but they are small and you have to really hunt them out when they don’t show up on Google / Yelp.
I had a standard bowl of Pho mit Rindfleisch (translation: Pho with beef). It was solid and it satisfied my craving. I ate it so fast I forgot to take a picture of it. I’m going to start trying out more Asian places in Stuttgart. I’m getting a little tired of just meat and fries 😅.
The Weekend
Hopefully, I can accomplish the following this weekend:
- Saturday: clean, do laundry, and clean some more
- Sunday: go to Heidelberg
- Monday: go on a bike ride
Frieden und Liebe ❤️ (translation: peace and love)
